Revered in Egypt, it opened its flowers in the light of day and closed them at night - symbolising the cycle of growth, decay and rebirth. With our Suyana Blue Lotus Spray, we bring this ancient plant into a form that you can take with you wherever you go - as a small everyday companion that gives you a moment of ritual and depth at any time.

Our spray is obtained by supersonic extraction in glycerol (1.33:1) - a gentle, alcohol-free method that preserves the valuable plant substances. Bottled at the new moon, each bottle carries the energy of a new beginning: an invitation to let go of the old and embrace the new.

The power of the blue lotus

The history of this flower is as old as the myths themselves.

• In the temples of Egypt, it symbolised the sun and rebirth, blossoming anew every day.
• The god Nefertem was depicted as a child emerging from a lotus blossom - symbolising healing and beauty.
• Goddesses such as Isis and Hathor were associated with its transformative and life-giving power - love, ecstasy, fertility and protection.

Origin & processing

Our Blue Lotus come from Puttalam in the north-west of Sri Lanka, where they grow in natural lakes - pure, unadulterated and in the rhythm of nature.

Our flowers are lovingly harvested by hand by an Ayurveda family that has been working in small structures in harmony with nature for generations. Together with 32 people, they collect over 20,000 fresh flowers every day. It takes 1500 to 1700 fresh flowers to produce a single kilogramme of dried lotus blossoms - an expression of their rarity and preciousness.

The flowers are gently dehydrated at 45 °C for 18 hours to preserve their colour and fine quality. We then use supersonic extraction in glycerol (1.33:1) to transform them into a pure, alcohol-free essence, which we deliberately bottle at the new moon - fuelled by the energy of a new beginning.

The result is a spray that combines the ancient power of the blue lotus with a contemporary form - light, handy and full of meaning.
