The best growing conditions

Suyana’s Ceremonial Blend originates from Juanjuí, in the province of Mariscal Cáceres in north-central Peru – a region nestled between the eastern foothills of the Peruvian Central Cordillera and the lush national parks of Río Abiseo and Cordillera Azul. Here, the mineral-rich energy of the Andes meets the fertile warmth and gentle humidity of the Amazon. With an average rainfall of 1,400 mm, a steady humidity of 80–90 %, and temperatures between 22 °C and 32 °C, nature creates the ideal environment for our cacao to unfold its full character. In this delicate balance of nutrient-rich soil, constant climate, and untouched biodiversity, our cacao develops its unmistakable depth, strength, and natural richness.

Cacao instead of Cocaine

We source our cacao mass directly from a local, certified small farmers' and agricultural co-operative. Under the motto 'Theobromine instead of cocaine', the cooperative was founded 25 years ago to replace coca plants with cocoa and end the violence associated with drug-related crime.

This success story is continuing: instead of leaving the raw material to the cocaine trade, the cooperative is focussing on continuously improving the quality of the cacao. Today, the cooperative has over 500 members who are guaranteed a good standard of living thanks to the cultivation and processing of the cacao.
