What is ceremonial cacao?

Ceremonial cocoa is fundamentally different from ordinary cocoa as you probably know it from the supermarket. It is grown on our farms in an environmentally friendly way in mixed cultures and then gently roasted. In contrast to conventional cocoa, which is roasted much hotter, it retains its vitamins and minerals and therefore also its natural healing powers. With up to 30 times more theobromine, a substance similar to caffeine, than in conventional chocolate, it can act as a gentle stimulant and heart opener.

At Suyana, we source our ceremonial cocoa directly from small farmers who grow and process it using traditional methods. This allows you to connect not only with the plant itself, but also with the millennia-old knowledge of the Maya and Aztecs, for whom cocoa was sacred and often referred to as the "food of the gods".
