Increasingly more popular in spiritual circles and even in urban environments becomes the cacao ceremony. This is an ancient spiritual ritual originally practiced by the indigenous people of Central America. When combined with dried fly agaric powder for incense, this ceremony can become a unique and profound experience.

WHAT IS DRIED FLY AGARIC?

Dried fly agaric, also known as Amanita Muscaria or toadstool, is a mushroom that is widely distributed and known throughout the world. It has a characteristic red cap with white spots and contains many substances beneficial to health. It is also said to have healing powers on a meta-physical level. The indigenous people of Central America, for example, have been using this mushroom for centuries in their spiritual practices to get in touch with higher spiritual realms.

WHAT IS FLY AGARIC POWDER?

THE CACAO CEREMONY

The cacao ceremony is an ancient spiritual ritual used to purify and clear the body, mind and spirit. The raw cacao is an important part of this ceremony. It contains many nutrients and antioxidants that support our health. Combined with the fly agaric powder as incense, the cacao ceremony can now become an intense and profound experience.

THE BENEFITS OF FLY AGARIC POWDER IN THE CACAO CEREMONY

HOW TO USE FLY AGARIC POWDER IN THE CACAO CEREMONY

There are many health benefits to using toadstools in the cacao ceremony. Fly agaric contains some active ingredients that are beneficial for health. Some of these active ingredients are muscimol, ibotenic acid and acid anhydride. These substances can strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation and even lower cholesterol levels.

In addition, fly agaric smudged during a cacao ceremony can also help improve the mood of participants. In the body, the mushroom's own active ingredients increase the release of the happiness hormone serotonin, which can lead to improved mood and a sense of well-being. This effect can especially help people with depression or anxiety. However, we currently have no known studies on this.

SMUDGING FLY AGARIC

Fly agaric as incense

Fly Agaric as Incense - A Journey of Discovery into the World of Amanita Muscaria

The fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) is a universally known symbol of fairy tales and myths and is often associated with witches, wizards and elves. But did you know that fly agaric can also be used in our world as a powerful companian? In this article, we will take an in-depth look at this fascinating organism and take a closer look at its possible use as an incense.

WHAT IS AMANITA MUSCARIA?

Amanita muscaria is a mushroom found in forests all over the world. It is known for its striking red cap with white dots and can grow up to 20 cm tall. The mushroom contains several medicinal substances, including muscimol and ibotenic acid, which are known for their mind-expanding effects.

Amanita muscaria is also valued in many cultures for its medicinal and spiritual properties. In traditional Chinese medicine, for example, fly agaric is used to treat arthritis, neuralgia, and other pains.

FLY AGARIC DRIED

When fly agaric is to be used as an incense, it is usually dried. The dried mushroom caps can then be burned either alone or in combination with other incense such as frankincense or sandalwood. The smoke that is produced is considered pleasant and calming and is said to promote a deeper spiritual experience.

SMUDGING FLY AGARIC

Fly agaric incense is an ancient practice practiced in many cultures around the world. In some cultures, fly agaric smoke is valued for its medicinal properties, while in others it is used for its spiritual and ritual purposes.

Smoking with fly agaric can be done in a variety of ways. In some cultures, the mushroom is ignited on glowing coals, while in others it is burned in an incense burner and dispersed throughout the room. Some cultures deliberately inhaled this smoke to achieve a specific effect.

THE EFFECT OF FLY AGARIC AS INCENSE

The effect of fly agaric as incense depends on several factors, including the quantity, the method of burning, and the quality of the mushroom. Some people report deep relaxation and a sense of peace and harmony after smoking fly agaric. Others report healing experiences and a sense of connection with nature and the universe.

It is important to note that fly agaric can also have negative effects on the body and psyche, and for this reason it is not allowed and should not be ingested or inhaled here in Germany. Therefore, the fly agaric should be used as incense only in moderation and with caution.

Our cacao preparation recommendation

Ceremonial Grade Cacao

Our cacao preparation recommendation

You need:

  • 25 - 40g ceremonial cacao mass

  • about 250ml liquid of choice - water and/ or a vegan milk alternative
  • if desired: about 1-2 tablespoons of coconut blossom sugar or syrup
  • a pinch of salt
  • spices to taste (see end of recipe)
  • utensils for heating & mixing the cacao
  • your personal heart intention

HERE'S HOW IT'S DONE:

1. Finely grind the cacao mass

If the cacao mass is still in a fairly large chunk, you should first chop it up a bit with a knife to help it melt. We recommend a dose of between 25 and 40 g, depending on your intention.

2. Measure the liquid

To measure the appropriate amount of liquid, it is best to use your cup from which you want to drink the cacao. According to the original Mayan and Aztec recipe, water is used. If you like it a little creamier and milder, you can also use a plant-based milk alternative. Or you can mix the two together - for example, ⅔ water and ⅓ plant milk.

3. Choice of other ingredients

According to the recipe of the indigenous peoples of Central and South America, only a little chili and vanilla are added to refine the water-based cacao drink.

If you're in a more experimental mood, you'll be happy to know that cacao also blends beautifully with many other spices. Nowadays there are many different recipes and combinations with cacao - get inspired or get creative and develop your own favorite recipe.

At the end of this post you will find suggestions for possible spices and information about their effects. You can also add a small pinch of salt to the mixture to intensify the flavor and accentuate the highlights.

Now let's move on to sweetening the cacao. In the traditional way of preparation, no sweeteners are added. However, if the drink is too bitter for you, you can sweeten it with our organic & fairtrade coconut blossom sugar or a syrup (e.g. agave syrup, date or yacon syrup). Alternatively, if you use a blender, you can add dried or fresh fruit to sweeten, such as dates or a banana. There really are no limits to your creativity!

Of course, don't forget the most important ingredient - your personal heart intention for your cacao ritual. Place a hand on your heart, take a deep breath and feel what it needs right now.

4. Put it together

You can then combine the cacao, liquid, and other ingredients of your choice in a vessel to heat. This can be as simple as a saucepan where you gently heat the liquid up to about 60-80°C, stirring constantly with a whisk to melt it. If you prefer a more frothy cacao, you can froth the liquid with a molinillo (wooden whisk) or simply use a milk frother or blender with heat function. It is important that the cacao does not begin to boil, so that its nutrients remain contained.

5. Pour it & enjoy

Enjoy!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON POSSIBLE INGREDIENTS (DOSAGE: APPROXIMATELY ONE PINCH):

  • CHILI POWDER

with its spiciness, it will get you going and ignite the fire inside you.
  • VANILLE

with a long tradition in cocoa recipe, vanilla is a particularly noble refinement with a creamy caramel taste and at the same time invigorating & calming effect.

You can find organic vanilla here in our store.

  • Cinnamon

a mildly warming all-rounder spice that has a calming and mood-lifting effect.

  • Cardamom

as one of the oldest spices in the world, it presents itself as a sweet and spicy pick-me-up that brings you into balance.
  • Piment

also called Jamaica pepper or myrtle pepper, combines the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove and has a warming & stimulating effect. It also has a more pleasant, mild spiciness compared to pepper.
  • Cloice

a spicy, sweetish and slightly pungent addition that has a stimulating, antispasmodic and mood-lifting effect. A particularly suitable nuance for the winter season.
  • Turmeric

a golden choice that has a balancing and warming effect. The root powder tastes peppery, bitter earthy, slightly spicy and is an excellent boost for the immune system. In the hue of the sun, turmeric makes you glow and radiate.
  • Ginger

a fruity-hot spice with strong anti-inflammatory and digestive effects. For those days when a little zest & freshness is just what you need.
  • Flower leaves

A loving add-on and expression of celebration. The range of pretty, edible flowers is vast. We suggest you use local blossoms that had no contact with chemical pesticides whenever possible. Maybe you'd even like to go exploring in nature yourself? A particularly beautiful combination with cacao is the rose - the symbol of love with a heart-strengthening effect and a flowery, slightly bitter and tart, yet sweet taste.
